RBOC Representative Program
The Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) is the not-for-profit advocate for California’s boaters. We support and defend boater access to waterways (launch ramps, harbor and navigation access etc.), work with the state on budget issues (such as fuel and registration taxes) and ensure that boaters are represented in the legislative and regulatory process. As such, it is important that we communicate to as many boaters as possible in our state. While we represent almost 2 million boaters, we as a volunteer organization, don’t have the capacity to reach all enthusiasts on important issues.
We have strong relationships with most of the state’s 180 or so boating clubs and associations, however we don’t have a “go to” person at each of these organizations to communicate issues to their members directly. Our goal is to have a more inclusive and engaged community of boaters who are aware of issues that are important to our passion.
Program Overiew
For these reasons, RBOC has created the “RBOC Representative Program” to help keep the lines of communication flowing from RBOC to the boaters and conversely, from the boaters back to RBOC. The program is very simple for organizations to implement. To participate, all they need to do is to follow the next few steps:
1. Assign one or two people to be the “RBOC Representative (s)” in the organization who are good communicators (preferably someone who is going through the chairs and perhaps someone who has been a past leader).
2. Send RBOC, their contact information. To do so online: click here
If appropriate, create an email address that is forwardable to the delegate personal email (i.e. RBOCrepresentative@XYZClub.org
