RBOC is supporting the concerns and reservations expressed by the local boating community with the unworkable amendments the Regional Water Quality Control Board is proposing to its Water Quality Control Plan for Marina del Rey Harbor that will negatively impact boating.
RBOC references and reinforces the substantive, thorough comments the Marina del Rey Lessees Association submitted on May 13, emphasizing both the impossibility of feasible responses to the proposed total maximum daily load [TMDL] measurements and the continuing unresolved issue regarding the relevance and applicability of those measurements [or any actual threat] to actually present local marine life.
RBOC agrees with the Association that a proposed rule that offers no solutions, no storage, no remediation, no paint or coating substitutes, no haulage and no alternatives … is not a solution. Shutting down all boating in Marina del Rey other than woven Chumash canoes is not the right answer,
RBOC urges the regional boat to expand its search for feasible and realistic alternatives to protect both marine life and access by Californians and visitors to recreation on the water.
